Looks cool. I'll wait for Tom's to review it. Since I'm living in Halifax right now (usually posted to Victoria) and the temp is quite hot in the summer I'll have to get a better heatsink this summer. This has potential.

in the coolers & heatsinks forum, it was pretty much decided that this will do nothing for you
it could increase noise by having it reverberate in that chamber, the increased airflow is questionable, it seems like just another way to separate you from your money
not worth the "upgrade"

I LOVE DANGER DEN WATERCOOLING, they went out of their way to both personalize my kit and change my order when i needed to, i had to change my sig to give them props
I am going to buy a funnel for $.99 at the local auto parts store. I am going to cut off the spout, force that badboy over the top of a heat sink, and the clamp it nice and tight. The clamp will cost $.49. I will then market it as "The Vortex Funnel Supercooler for P4," and charge $19.99. Whadya think? I'll make an "Ultra version" by attaching an 80 mm case fan to the top of the funnel, and sell it for $39.99!
<-----Insert witty sig line here.

Thermaltake's big claim is that it increases cooling to the center of the heatsink... Take a look at most heatsinks... big open channel right down the middle for the spring clip... nothing to cool.
That's a good idea. You wanna be my partner? We'll need to come up with about $5000.00. We could order the funnels factory direct at about $.25 each, the clamps in boxes of 100 for about $.10 each, and buy the case fans in bulk for about $2.00 each! Add another couple bucks for LED's and spend the rest for marketing! (Our marketing would consist of trolling hardware site forums and posting links and making totally unsubstantiated claims that THIS supercooler lowered the temp on my AMD Palomino by 17 C!)
That's a $5.00 per unit investment. The R&D is already finished! Anyway, we could easily build our first 2000 units, turn a quick $155,000.00 profit, and then invest...oh..$5 or so into R&D'ing the next generation (using square funnels that actually conform to the shape of the heatsink!)
you sellin stock?
i'll jump on this bandwagon
throw in a big number, too, like "Vortex Funnel Supercooler 5000"
add zeros to a few and mark up the price

There is a new type of fan with a smaller hub, because it's driven by magnets in the blade tips. This will give more air in the center. Unfortunately, it's only available in 70mm so far. On a socket 478, more air in the middle is a good thing (clips are at the outside).
I'm not too sure about exact temps as i haven't been here in the summer since '97. I'm in the Navy and usually stationed in Victoria BC. I just came out here for my Submarine Qualification (10 months of training). I do remeber that it gets quite hot but probably not as hot as Florida lol (been there in '87).

Ducting is not a bad idea in some cases. Dell packages most of their desktops with ducts to direct hot air out of the case. Ironically their ducts are better than thermaltakes but yeah anything that basically gets heat out of your case is good... Personally i would just go to a hardware store and get some flexible tubing used for ehating ducts.. done and done... that is if I wanted to duct my air out of my case.
To err is human... to really screw things up you need a computer!
