I'm just wondering if it is safe to leave my compaq evo n1020v notebook switched on overnight (using AC Power, not the battery). I'm just worried about the heat it puts out and would like to hear some opinions on how safe it is to leave on. Thanks!

I used my friends for 2 weeks - i only switched it off once, it will be fine. I leave my D800 (and my old 8200) on 18hrs a day, no probs. (the only time its off is when i am transporting it somewhere).

Poor widdle Angel is afraid to break her notebook.
I turned it off and evidently it seems to shut down, so my computer was left on for the night. Well... it still works. Besides, you still have a 3 year wanteree on it, put it to good use.

It should have a powersave mode if you're not using it, so it will 'sleep' and won't generate a lot of heat. It'll be fine.

 My CPU runs so hot it creates a quark-gluon plasma
