I just installed Windows XP pro on my Dell Dimension XPS T500 (Pentium III 500 MHz), and my CPU usage in task manager is always 100%. This is on completely fresh install of XP pro. Nothing else has been installed. The 'System' process is always taking up 100% of CPU usage. Even after I installed all the most recent drivers and updates, it still takes 100% of the CPU power.
With some other task monitor I was able to see that apperently the system was continously switching between 2 tasks wasting CPU power. Apperently this is a low priority process, since if I launch a CPU intensive application, it will get the required CPU power. The system appears to work ok, but a bit sluggish. Probably due to the latency in allocating CPU resource.
What can I do to make this run properly?
