Motherboard/battery fried

pluged headphone into the USB port and comp- switched off was told to take the battery out and plug it into the mains and turn my comp- on this worked ok so put battery back in and i was on the comp- for 2 hours. next day comp- wont come on battery or not

Have you left the battery off the laptop overnight?
