Hi everyone

According to http://www.igs.net/~ndaines/Qfiles/bmw-r.html
the motherboard in my Compaq 5006US should have jumpers for changing
the FSB frequency. However, either I have a different motherboard, or
Compaq modified the OEM board without jumpers, or I just can't find
them. Does anyone know if the 5006US FSB can be changed or not? It's
definitely not in the Compaq BIOS.

Reason I'n need this info is that I would like to do a processor
upgrade, but if I can't change the FSB I am limited to certain
Coppermine processors; if I can change the FSB I can use Tualatin
processors (with an adapter).

Trevor,

I just tore down a Presario with the same board in it, selling off the board
yesterday.

There are no FSB jumpers, despite the info on the web page you cited. I was
able to run a 933MHz Pentium 3 in it without any trouble, and the speed was
recognized by the motherboard BIOS as was the FSB of 133Mhz. The Intel 810E
chipset on the board automatically detects the CPU type and sets the FSB speed
accordingly.

I doubt that the board is capable of running any of the lower voltage P3
processors such as the Celerons and Pentium 3's above 1Ghz.
