Upgrading to faster hard drive

I have a hp laptop
T7200, 4gb ram, windows vista (will add windows 7), 250gb 4200 rpm drive and a 8600gsm video card.

if i upgrade to 7200 rpm segate that i saw in the charts, will i notice a difference in performance?

Depends on what you define as performance.

Your programs will load faster, as will Windows itself, but the programs' speed itself (like a game or a video editing program) will be unaffected.

Basically, your computer will be able to load files faster, but the processing speed will remain unaffected.
