Does this authentication pop up when you turn the computer on? If so, I believe this is a BIOS password. To get rid of it, go into the BIOS and find the correct area to turn off authentication. I believe with Dell's you hit f2 when you first turn on the computer to enter the bios. If you know the password, it shouldn't be a problem to turn it off.

You need to get the password from the original owner.

some people don't read the topic right? it is not a windows user/windows admin password, it is a bios/system/administration password. removing internal battery and removing all the dc power will not remove the password.
