How to switch Toshiba Satellite L35-S1054 monitor to external monitor

Fn F5 (maybe one of the other Function keys for this model). Just look for something that looks like a monitor or a screen (well vaguely) and hit Fn+ that function key. Usually there are three settings, monitor only, monitor and screen, and screen only.

you can also use display properties, which can be accessed by right clicking the desktop
