I put 32 volts into my compaq laptop

By accident I plugged in a 32 volt power supply into my Compaq F700 laptop. It beeped and the screen flashed. When I plugged in the correct 19v power supply it doesn't power on. What damage did iI cause?

Posssible death and cremation in one go but the important figure is the Volt/Amperage which you get by multiplying Volts by Amps. On your power supply (the proper one) will be that Amp figure - possibly 4.74 on a 19V unit. What's the figure on the 32 Volt supply?

More importantly - what does the laptop do now?
