it will be ridiculously easy to overclock. its all done in the bios. if you know you are definitely going to oc then dont get the 2400. get a 1700 instead.. it will almost certainly go as high as the 2400 for a fraction of the cost. make sure you get a tbred 'b' core tho
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.
You can still get 1700+ Palomino's. Make sure it's a t-bred before you buy, since they overclock insanely better than pals. Or you can get a Barton like me. It's running at 12.5x179 right now, and I could go higher if I could only unlock the higher multipliers..... but I don't have the balls.
XP 2500+ Barton
A7N8X Dlx
2x512MB Corsair PC3200
ATI 9700 Pro
16x DVD-ROM
2x80GB 7200RPM Maxtor
Onboard audio
OK, I know where you can get a Tbred B for sure,
www.newegg.com sells the OEM XP2100+, its a Tbred B, they advertise as much. I just put together a system for a friend, We believe he has a 'high quality' tbred b core. I was able to take this chip to XP 2700+ levels (333FSB) and I only bumped the cpu voltage by .05 (up to 1.65 from 1.6) I bought a Volcano 7+ cooler for him it keeps the chip very cool.... ( I even got the FSB up to 195, with a little bump to 1.7volts (only a 9.5x multiplier), then I ran outa time.)
I am planning on leaving it OC'd to xp2400 with 333 fsb, its not my machine, its for a friend, I wanna make sure he has as few problems as possible.
At any rate 83$ for a guaranteed Tbred B is not a bad deal, I am pretty sure the xp1700's are Tbred B's as well, although they don't advertise it. You can also call them I believe and have them read you the numbers off the chip. Check out www.HardOCP.com, a day or so back, someone published a document up there that is very useful as far as determining what all the numbers mean, I am sure many guys around here have links to appropriate web pages as well.
Make sure you get the twinxx memory from corsair (the ultra low latency, I got him the DDR3200 twinx 512MB)
