I have Direct TV at my home with 4 boxes. I have some property in a remote area 2 hours north of here. I have a satelite dish and all the stuff to hook it up. Can I use a box from my house to access programing up north?

Yes, as long as the dish is aimed correctly, and you have the correct dish version. You just don't want to plug in the internet, or phone line. This is technically against their terms of service, but it does work. My grandparents own a cabin that's 100 miles west of denver, and they use the same service at home, and remotely with a box in each location.
