Windows 8 computer tablet thingy

I was wondering if anyone knew of a company that makes a sort of portable touchscreen monitor that could connect wirelessly, basically like a tablet that was just the screen, that you could then hook up to a nice desktop machine running windows 8. The idea being to basically have this super powerful tablet that you could use around the house that's basically your computer. Looked around a bit online and couldn't figure this out.

Teachers use it a lot in education. Smartboards, but I think thats out of your budget.
