Need help with sound card

I have a new 506GR 3.2 computer with onboard sound. I would like to use my
soundblaster sound card and sub woofer/speakers from my previous computer
for a better sound system. I disabled the sound card in the bios and removed
the drivers from the onboard card and installed the new card with the latest
drivers but I do not get any sound. Does anyone have any advice?

Have you checked to see if it is muted in the sound panel settings? I've
had it spontaneously mute itself.

If you are not getting any sound from your CD/DVD drive it may be because
you failed to disconnect the line from the drive - with the little plastic
clip on it - from the MB and connect it to your new sound card.

Also you may want to check if it's digital or analog output, depending on
your speakers.

Check Control Panel, Sound & Audio Devices, Volume tab. Click all buttons
and make sure all choices make sense for your new config.

Go to Audio and Voice tabs and make sure your new card is selected as the
default device (check that check box).

The wording in this post is a little confusing. The audio cable should be
connected from the CD/DVD to the new sound card. The old setup would have
had it going from the CD/DVD to the motherboard.

Bingo!!! Of course it would be helpful to know what the sound card is that
the OP put in.

If your previous machine was a Gateway and you have BA735 Speakers, those
speakers only work with a digital line out signal. You have to enable
digital output in the sound card properties for them to work.
