I got an AMD Athlon XP 2400+. I ordered it, and I am going to put it in tomorrow. What kind of temps can I expect? The cooler that came with the processor, is the one that works with the 2700+. If you go to the one that says 2700+ bundled cooler, under the article that compares AMD bundled coolers, that is the one I have. Thanks, here is my system:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Corsair 512MB DDR 400
Western Digital 80 GB w/8 MB Buffer
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
16X DVD
Plextor 48x24x48
Antec 1080 AMG Case
3 coolings fan, 1 intake, 2 exhaust

well if everything is normal you can expect temps in the 50-60 range.
But just remember there are ALOT of variables to consider... including the accuracy (or lack of) of the temp measuring hardware AND software.

Poo, this may be a silly question... but do you have two accounts? Sometimes your name starts 'lhg' and sometimes 'LHG', or are you two different people?

I have an 2400+xp B core. I have it overclocked from 2.0ghz to 2.2ghz, running 200fsb.

using a good, but not great, cooler I get 50C idle but get too hot to play games, it shuts down. If you dont overclock like I did, you can run as low as 46C idle and 50 under load. Im going to clock my back down until I can get a very good heatsink fan setup....

but yes, youll run good temps under 50C if you dont overclock and use a basic cooling setup.

Definately get a better cooler in your case. Something big so you can run a slow and quiet 80mm fan.
