We have a 32" Toshiba CRT that has been fine since day one. Earlier today the Tosh sparked for a moment or two and then stopped until it was turned off a couple hours later. This evening, it started sparking a lot worse and for a lot longer. By sparking, i mean bands of static will jump across the screen. Sometimes it's just a single line, other times a band up to an inch wide and multiple bands. The static comes across the speakers. It's not the satellite box or coax cable as I swapped cables and tvs.

Any ideas what's causing it? Is it worth keeping? Thanks.

Solution
If its 15 years old, its probably not repairing. Sounds like the Power Supply is on the fritz. The odds of parts being available is slim and none.

I posted this question on three different boards and got four answers. One guy didn't know what I was talking about. (Must be an Apple fan). The others agreed with you, jcoultas98. Two said it's about to become a fire bomb. Well, "Hello, Costco and that Panny 50" plasma".
