Blu Ray Burner Problem

I have an HP BD240 blu ray in my computer. It's an old model, but according to HP, even though they don't have it anymore, they said it burns blu rays. Well, it can burn dvds just fine, but in nero burning rom and adobe encore, it says that the recorder can only burn dvds. Any thoughts on how to remedy this? Thanks.

HP is wrong, according to the specs for the device it only reads Blu Ray.

Performance

Maximum BD Read Speed: 8x

Maximum DVD Read Speed: 16x

Maximum DVD Write Speed: 26x

Maximum DVD Rewrite Speed: 8x

Maximum CD Read Speed: 48x

Maximum CD Write Speed: 48x

Maximum CD Rewrite Speed: 32x

THANK YOU! I was on the phone with HP for a half hour and the guy finally said that it could burn blu-rays but he wasn't certain, which I thought was ridiculous.
