Looking for some help choosing between these 2 ( buying tonight)

im stuck between 2 IPS monitors

Dell 2209WA and a NEC MultiSync EA231WMi

NEC: 310 shipped (1920x1080)
dell 2209wa: 277 shipped (1680x1080)

my question is this will there be a noticable image qualit difference going from 1680x1080 to 1920x1080?

The question is not image quality, but viewable area. You have a larger desktop area. In games you also get wider point of views, example in games such as Fallout 3 and Oblivion you'll have a more panoramic view using a 1920 x 1080 monitor compared to a 1680 x 1050 monitor. In games like Galactic Civilization, you'll see more of the game map on screen.

The difference is when watching Blu-Ray or any movies with 1920 x 1080 resolution. Monitors that are less than 1080p will require the resolution to be shrunk down to fit the lower resolution. This is video interpolation which will have an impact on image quality. You are not likely to really notice it (at least for most people) unless you compare 1080p video on a 1650 x 1050 monitor right beside a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

Yeah i ended up going with the NEC EA231WMi after reading a bit-tech review on the monitor. they said the monitors Quality was brilliant and gave the monitor 9 out of 10. alot of other people ive talked to also pointed me to this monitor so for 315 bucks at provantage i jumped on the deal.

i have NEVER spent this kind of money on a monitor before. ive always bought Cheap TN's and before i never knew of this thing called IPS. i checked it out in person tn vs ips and was blown away. Thanks for your input i wasnt to fond of the 1680x1080 Resolution myself and the NEC gives me a chance to go eyefinity
