640k Cache vs. 384k Cache, (ie. Barton vs. T-bred)

What does this mean, and what kind of difference does this larger Cache size really make to the performance of the CPU?

You can use the 2500+ Barton and the 2600+ T-bred for comparison since this is the root of my question.

Our last discussion on the uniqueness of AMD's exclusive cache.

More cache means less penalties for fetching memory, but only helps in certain applications.

Dichromatic for your viewing plesure...

ie, more cache = better performance clock to clock... thats why a barton 2500 has less Mhz than a Tbred 2500 would have but performs the same/better...

Hmmm, wonder if I can get a valid page fault ???
these invalid ones are far too commonplace...

If that's a 2600+ with a 333MHz FSB, I'd go with that over the Barton.

Appearantly AMD made both a 2133MHz / 266MHz FSB (part number AXDA2600DKV3C) and a 2083MHz / 333MHz FSB (part number AXDA2600DKV3D) AXP 2600+. So make sure you know which one you're getting.

That is, unless you're planning on OCing, in which case the Barton will probably be a better OCer.

IMHO The Barton is not nearly worth the extra money for the extra cache size... hence the immortal words OVERCLOCK IT!

eBay, kick ass!
