new vga-card: reboot -> system options not set

dear compaq gurus

i installed a new nvidia vga card in a deskop 1000 mhz (w2k). now on every
reboot i receive a messege:
162 system options not set. even if i confirm this message with f1 the
message is still here after the next reboot. i then entered the bios and
saved the altered configuration. the messesage still appears. any ideas ->
battery, bios ???
