Hey people. Does anyone have any info about the difference between an FCPGA chip and an FCPGA2 chip. If they share the same FSB speed are they interchangable??

Yes. Sometimes.

OK, the ONLY difference between FC-PGA and FC-PGA2 is that the later uses a heat spreader on top of the die. Both Coppermine and Tualatin cores are available in FC-PGA2.

A lot of people (including many companies) go under the erronious assumption that all FC-PGA2 processors are Tualatin. While this is wrong, the fact remains that most are. Tualatin's require a newer pin assignment. If your board is Tualatin compatable, either will work. Otherwise you'll need an adapter.
