I am trying to install the latest broadband updates for my router (MN-500)
and my Windows 2003 server. (The updates worked fine on the Windows XP
pc's). The error message I get is:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: c:\Temp\1\MSBNDownloadTemp\MSBNUpdate.exe

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Any ideas?

From the readme...

2. System Requirements

To install this release, you need a computer that is running one of the
following Microsoft operating systems:
Windows XP Home
Windows XP Professional
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows Millennium Edition
Windows 98 Second Edition
Windows 98 (If your computer is running Windows 98, ensure that it has the
latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer installed before you run the
Update Wizard. For information about updating Internet Explorer, go to
http://www.microsoft.com/ie. Also note that the Microsoft Wireless USB 2.0
Adapter (MN-710) does not support Windows 98.)

The Microsoft Broadband Networking software does not support Windows Server
2003.

Thanks for the info Jason.

What are my options? What am I loosging by not having the software on the
server? Do you know if there is going to be a version for Win2003? That
seems strange that it will not work. It has worked with the old version of
the software for over a year now.

The software has never been supported on Windows 2003 Server. As you
discovered, this update actually doesn't work on it.

The MSBNSoftware package available on the Web site will probably install on
your system and probably work as well as the version you currently have, but
it has not really been tested, since it is not a supported configuration.

The changes to the software are mainly to support Windows XP SP2, so you
really aren't missing anything.

I too have Win2k3 Server and I keep getting these reminders to d/l the
updates. The update was already installed from another compatible o/s.

How do we stop receiving the notification on the Server box?
Thx, Alan
