I posted this here becuase no one goes to the printer forum much these days and i was hopeing for a quick response.

My friend wants to be able to make prints of his digital art and sell them.He figures he needs to be able to print a 16x10 picture with good quiltity.I was looking at some espon printers and saw that there wide printers were around $2000.If some could recomend a good quility wide printer that doesnt cost so much I would be eternally greatful.

OK it's your choice:

The only problem you'll have with HP is the cost of ink. They are not only cheap on providing enough quantity, but they aren't even using any better droplet technology like Canon or Epson, AND they cost much more. And trust me, I don't get this info only from THG's reviews but from selling these printers. They're good, no doubt, but too costly. Unfortunately I don't deal with wide printers, though if someone knows of Canon or Epson alternatives you should look at them too. It's actually odd that HP uses the 56, 57 and 58 cartridges for such a printer. It's not like they have the most amount of ink in them, and they're common for your average photo printer from the 7000 or 8000 serie.

But anywhoo, if your friend wants the best quality (and he wants color prints), Epson all the way. Using oil-based ink will prove itself not only for the dry time being fast and the actual photo much more resistent to fading, but it provides for the best quality. Heck, even the commercial home photo printers from Epson are awarded best photo quality. Check out THG's tests for the R300 and the latest, the R800, giving possibly the closest match to the original photo on the PC.

Hope this helps in tips.
