I am running a atholon thunderbird 750 slot a on soyo k7via mobo.
the hard disk is seagate ide 17GB. I installed the latest via 4 in 1 drivers including the via bus master drivers.
The system did speed up after that but the hibernate function stopped working. Another curious thing is that in the device manager the Hard disk and CD rom are being shown as SCCI whereas they are actually IDE devices.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Anil.

First of all, the via busmaster drivers are only for win98. The 4 in 1 driver should reconize win2k and not install the busmaster drive. If your drives are hooked up to a promise or highpoint controller then that is the reason they show up as scsi devices. If they are, hook them up the the onboard ide controller then try the hibernate thing.

Nope, i didnt use any other controller cards.
And once I uninstalled the bus master drivers, the drives went back to being the IDE ones and the hibernate also started working again.
Thanks.
