i Bought a new laptop with only windows 7 basic, can i download office 2007

They don't have digital versions of Office 2007 for you to download. You'll have to download 2010. If you don't want to buy it, there's a 60 day trial here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/

You'll still have to buy it eventually, but hey... 60 days free!
