I have a visioneer usb scanner. I only use it occasionally these days so I
usually leave it off.

When I put a cd into any drive and it autoplays the scanner "control box"
pops up and searches (from 0 - 100%) for the scanner. The cd autoplay is
held up until the search gets to 100%.

Any ideas whats causing it?? I had the same problem on ME and had hoped to
eliminate it now I'm using XP pro. I have updated the scanner drivers,
uninstalled and reinstalled the scanner software and its the same with or
without Norton.

TIA

Right click on the scanner in device manager. Uninstall. Reboot and allow
the system to redetect the scanner. It will reinstall the scanners drivers -
assuming that they are not missing. You can also reinstall the scanner
software which may solve the problem.

I remember that there were problems with your mfg. scanner in that many were
not compatible with Windows XP. Scanners are cheap these days and I have
seen many on sale for under $50.00.

Tried all that several times already just wont budge. I think you might be
right about a new scanner. Could definitely do with a usb 2 to speed things
up.

)
