Can you make a connection between a stereo cable with a subwoofer cable?

Can you connect speaker cable to subwoofer cable? My electrician ran open-ended (non-terminated) speaker cable through the wall and told me I could connect one end using an rca plug to my subwoofer jack on my receiver and the other end I could connect to the LFE jack on my subwoofer, but on that end I would have to connect the bare speaker wire to an rca wallplate so I can plug the subwoofer jack into that and then plug the other end of the subwoofer cable into my LFE jack on the actual subwoofer. Does this sound feasible?

You could just terminate one end of the cable with RCA.
