I now have windows 7 and my adobe reader 9 does not work, neither can I convert a pdf file to a word document - use to be able to do this when I had window vista and micorsoft word 7. So much for buying update software.
Adobe Reader is a free software that is included in a lot of driver downloads and install discs. If you have an old install disc for a motherboard or video card you can delete what you have on your desktop if it's not working and load the one off the disk. Then go to the Adobe site and upgrade it to the current version. You can also go to the Adobe site and update what you now have and that should also work.
