Mea culpa! Apologies to all, especially to joe. Most people, I think, would
know to call Dell for a replacement part, so if I'm posting here it's
because I don't want a replacement part from Dell.
But really...all this for calling someone a "nincompoop"? I searched my
thesaurus for something inoffensive to write. You guys can go hand-to-hand
for days against xenophobic attacks on Dell, but when someone calls someone
else a "nincompoop," well, that's taking it too far.
Louise, thanks for your offer. If it's really true that a third party power
supply costs so much more than an original replacement from Dell, I'll just
get one from Dell. My PSU is not unbearable, the way it seems to be for
others who have posted on this topic.
BTW, Tom's Hardware Guide has an excellent article on selecting PSU's which
included a primer on how they work.
