I already heard that the Intel 2.66 is the better choise then a AMD 2.700+. By now I have a AMD 1.33 and this thing drives me nuts. Way to LOUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! Other coolers, no chance, processor overheat.

What about Intel Box version. there's a fan coming with it. How loude is it? Any expirence????????

There are a huge variety of quiet and noiseless solutions for both chips... just choose the right HSF. e.g. Zalman do a range of quiet/silent coolers.

I've never actually heard one myself, but Toms did a review of AMD coolers, including AMD bundled ones...

The latest AMD retail fans are very quiet. They were louder back with the Thunderbird core CPU`s but they produces a LOT of heat. The new T-Breds produce a lot less heat and as such the fans are a lot quieter.

I read a while ago that the Intel reference design was one of the best soultions for noise and cooling, but I don't know where you can get one. It was a bent-fin extrusion with a copper plug up the middle. The fins were curved in such a way as to hit the fan blades at right angles all the way out, to reduce noise. Oh, wait. Here it is. This is the first search result for sunflower p4 cooler from Dogpile, so they're probably available all over the place.

That said, anything from Zalman will be quieter, since that's all they do.
