I'm pretty sure I've seen this around but wanted to confirm. I'm in the process of putting together my new cpu and have everything now except for a processor.

I ended up doing the asus P4C800 mobo and am looking to get an 800FSB P4 to go along with it. Is there a 2.8 P4C coming out this month and does anyone know what the pricing would be? I'd rather not spend the extra $$ on the 3.0...

Yes. This month, we should see 2.4Ghz, 2.6Ghz, 2.8Ghz and 3.2Ghz with 800Mhz FSB, or so I´ve heard. Anyone correct me if I´m wrong... Don´t have the dates, anyway...

It's listed in several online computer hardware vendor databases. Not sure exactly when it will be available. Cost around $310.

Honestly, just for future proofing reasons I'd be inclined to go with the 3.0 instead of the 2.8, and I'm NOT sure of this but I don't believe the lower speed chips support HT.

Indeed, all 800Mhz-FSB processors will support HT... this makes them all the more interesting. An up-to-date platform (i875/i865) and Ht-enabled, 800Mhz-FSB, reasonable-priced cpus from Intel...

Got a DigiTimes news email today telling me the release date of the 2.8 GHz 800 FSB P4; 21st of May. It should retail at $278. Also, according to the email, all 800 FSB P4's comes with Hyper-Threading. But don't take my word for the accuracy of the email.

Oh, by the way, here's a link to a page at DigiTimes telling the exactly same story.

All P4 C use 800 FSB and HT start at 2.4 GHZ all modle cost 15$ higher.(at release it be closer to 100 buck for the 1 2 week or so)

All canterwood springdale mothersboards will support Prescoot 800 FSB but not LGA package 1066 fsb prescott/tejas.

Do you have time frame on 1066 Fsb for Prescott. So Canterwood's will not support 1066 Fsb? So is that when Gransdale or whatever its name is for the new Mobo chip will be released?

hard to predict

There DDR-2 that get postpone each month by a month and on top of that it will not be faster just cheaper that DDR400.Maybe there will be a small boost on P4 but i expect the reverse on AMD64.

DDR-2 chipset are ready at Intel. So i expect VIA ATI SIS to be ready soon or in validation right now.As most got a lot of time to finish the memory controleur i hope they will this time for Massive validation for fast entry on the market also in server.

There also 3GIO that must be ready adding premium price for the 1 year on mothersboards. At server level a big structure as to be change.

Now the ability of mobo maker to produce PCB that can resiste 200 to 300 FSB.Also new developement is need to be able to go back to 4 layer PCB as DDR2-128bit or even wider may need 8 layer wich is very bad.(i dont think it will be need do).For long time we were stuck at 133 mghz 166 seen to be easely attain but 200 is much harder 250 or 350 mghz is need in very short term about 1.5 year from now. They have use 133/100 mghz for alomst 5 year.Bump also getting much slower the pace seen to be allwayse 33mghz or so but Mghz gap any where else is 33% by each year.

The ability to produce DDR-2 at most fab is hard.

So for grantdale and there follower many challenge is ahead for all from Intel to Samsung to ASUS on promise of lower pin count lower cost and higher speed and structure for the next 10 year.

From the roadmap i saw the 1066 bus is only on the last 2 or three prescott model made, and Intel says they will faze them out by 2005 so you do the math. And i wouldnt think the motherboard needs any tuning to support the 1066 fsb since some of the hardcore overclockers have gotten 1100+ fsbs out of canterwood+2.4ghz 800fsb ES cpus. Ddr-2 memory is another problem
