How much of a performance difference is there between an Intel Centrino 1.3 and 1.4? It costs 200 dollars Canadian (about 140 US) to upgrade to 1.4. Is it worth it?

Not at all, not worth it. Gives you more battery time, reduces performance by about 10% max.
