Is there a way to make a dell inpiron 1100 do

hello is there w a way to make a dell inspiron 1100 do a p4 2.66ghz cpu 533fsb it has a cely 2.4ghz celeron 400fsb i have tried this before but the beyboard lights just blink at and me and it goes on and off? is there a way to reset the bios or something it has 1.5gig of ram whiich is more then what dell says lol but the chipset on the laptop says 2gig and this chipset can do up to 3.06ghz ht 533fsb is there a way to make it do it do it just wondering

There seems to be a pattern emerging of posts from users of laptops (quite naturally) wanting to extract more performance (or just repairing them) by changing components.
Unfortunately, in most cases, this is not entertained by the manufacturers who often lock the BIOS, to specific peripherals such as optical drives and even on what we might regard as generic components like hard drives.
The chances that the BIOS would let you change components on the motherboard such as a CPU (or more improbably) a video subsystem are even more slim.
If you want that kind of flexibility in almost every case you will need to buy a desktop machine in the first place.
