Hello, i'm on the process of building a new workstation for myself, I just want to know if the p4 3ghz 800fsb is able to work in a DUAL system config. Also, what about the 3000 XP?, I am worried because I see that the p4 3ghz, is alot better than the Xeon 3.0ghz (singles I mean).

Helps..
Carlos.

No and No. If you want SMP abilities you need to go with either the Intel Xeon line or you need to go with the Athlon MP line.

In reality the only significant differences between top end xeon and top end single processor intel chips is the cache size (xeon is larger) and also that the single processor chip is now available in 800mhz fsb.

What are you wanting to do with your system?

Additionally, it might be interesting to note that the current MP line tops out at 2600+ and the current Xeon line tops out at 3.06Ghz (note: only 533Mhz FSB is available; 800Mhz isn“t due anytime soon...) The chipsets for the Xeons are generally more modern and robust, but also more costly than the AMD-Athlon MP-supporting chipsets, which are cheaper, older and less efficient.
