Which laptop from choice?

Hi all,

I want to buy a new lap-top - mainly fro work (i'm a teacher) but also for some music, internet surfing and playing medium level games - basically, a bit of multi-tasking when at work!

It needs to last a few (3-4 hopefully!) years without having to buy a new one in a year or so...

The games i like are:
Rome Total War - Medieval
Chapionship & Football Manager

I have a good desktop at home that runs all new games well, so this isn't a major concern.

I live in Indonesia and import tax is very expensive - thay are classed as a luxury good, therefore, 25% tax!

I intend to install Windows 7 Premium 64-bit.

Max. budget: $1000

The best site i have found is the one below and i have linked some computers i'm interested in.

My main concerns are:

* The GPU - i've checked some on notebookcheck.com and done comparisons but not all stats are coming up.
* Processor - the i3 sounds good but is it any better than a core 2 duo 8000+?
* Ram - most withh DDR3, but max is only 4GB.

I don't really want ACER or ASUS as I've heard more horror stories from these as any other......

So, if you were in my shoes, and knowing my intended use and budget - what would you go for?????
