Tell if 32 or 64 bit from Win 7 Recovery Console?

Hello,
Im working on a laptop that has a startup failure. Not my machine, so I don't know much about it. I've used Win 7 Recovery Console to copy the user's data to an external HD, but user supplied both 32 and 64 bit Win DVD's. How can I tell which to use given the resources available? I may not be able to ask the user, and he most likely does not know, anyway.

The big give away would be the Program Files (X86) AND Program Files folders on the drive of a 64 bit install when the 32 bit JUST just has the Program Files folder.
  2. If you try to install 64bit on a 32 bit system you will get an error upon starting the install.

Thank you. I did finally think of that, but still wanted confirmation.
