Ok I just both Gigabyte 8KNXP (Intel 875 chipset) plus Geil 1GB dual channel memory PC3500, ATI Radeon 9700PRO and I have question which CPU to get?
That is my choices below:
I do not want to spend $ 510.00 for CPU right now so maybe I better wait for new P4 800 MHz FSB like 2.4, 2.6 or 2.8.
What is the best thing to do right now?
I need good advice.
This system is going to be used mostly for games, music, pictures and internet but still I need good performance machine.
Put in a <A HREF="http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=120444&Category_Code=IntelCPU" target="_new">2.6C 800MHz FSB/Hyperthreading Enabled Pentium4</A> and you're all set. If completely limited to the above three CPUs and 3.0C cost too much, get the 2.8GHz 533MHz FSB CPU.
Depends on how much you want to spend. 2.4c will be the cheapest. Also with that Mobo you can upgrade your Cpu next year or so to Prescott. Do you plan to OC your Cpu? I'm going to buy 2.4c next month. Than sometime next June or later pick up Prescott. I'm going to buy same Mobo you have.
Yes I plan to OC CPU so what is my best choice right now ?
Some websites sell allready 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz 800 FSB CPU's.
I call today Monarch Computers and the guy says it have them in stock I don't know if that is true ???

2.4C. But 2.6C wouldn't be a bad choice either.

I don't know if it's true but I can say that monarch computer is one of the top rated resellers and thus trusted and respected.
I just call Essential Computer Inc. they have in stock
2.4 Ghz(800 FSB) -$235
2.8 Ghz(800 FSB) -$355
3.0 Ghz(800 FSB) -$488
I don't know any more wich one to get
Please advice !!!!!!!!
Thanks Prof133 for replies!!!!!
I've only seen one 2.4 (800Mhz FSB)/Gigabyte 8KNXP overclock and it achieved 2.88GHz with 960MHz FSB. But, that was with a early engineering sample CPU. I would expect that or better with a *real* 2.4 800MHz FSB processor - depending on how other components in the system react to the overclock of course.
HardOPC web site last week had an articles where they pushed the 2.4c to 3.6 Ghz But that was liquid Kooled Fsb 1.2 I think. It's been awhile since I read it.
