Not sure about E-Machines, but if you frame you questions around an accurate
description of your hardware and or software, there are a few computer
"wizards" here, that will greatly assist you on this newsgroup. I am not
one, but you will get very good answers here!

Intended usage would be to put a Hauppauge TV card in
it and use it as a PVR and TV.

Would also use it for surfing net, Quicken, term
papers,etc

Advice?
