Slow speed or poor speed
Poor display or crappy display
Tiny keyboard or small keyboard
Poor quality or bad quality

I agree with your friend that you should buy an Asus EEE PC.

What you need to describe is the following:

what screen size?
what activities will you be doing on it?
do you want a long battery life?
does it matter if it is stylish or not?

I recommend the Asus because of it's beautiful design, and its portability and comfort of use.

If you are going to buy a netbook, it should be Asus. However, asus has LOTS of netbooks.

Other netbook brands are very bad.
