"Our lab engineers made a curious discovery when they were examining MSI's 865 Neo 2. The manufacturer has incorporated an ingenious logic circuit that increases the FSB speed between 6 and 8 percent while programs are running; the processor is automatically overclocked."
Ingenius? Sounds more underhanded to me than ingenius.

It is very underhanded but in the same regard it is ingenious it was hidden pretty well. This soundas like pretty cool technology and i might take a second look at this board, when i pick one in two weeks or so.
BTW I wonder why they didn't do this with there Canterwood board?
This should make it clearer why it seems underhanded to me.
"And this is really interesting: the overclocking does not show up using conventional benchmarking utilities such as WCPUID, Intel CPU Frequency Display, CPUZ or SiSoft Sandra 2003. You need a very specialized tool to reveal the increased bus speed."
If they told you about it, then it wouldn't be so bad. But it seems to me they are going to great lengths to keep it hidden and if THG hadn't found it then everyone would think the MSI board is better than it is, when really it is just OCing the CPU.
This is in the region of nVidia underhandedness I think.
Ah so you were commenting on the board, not THG's typing!
I thought you were attacking a THG quote as if they were uninformed.
Yes I totally agree. It's a nice feature, but it's a cheat if not mentioned anywhere, a VERY BIG one, despite being for the good.

If I could see the Matrix, I'd tell you I am only seeing 0s inside your head!
Not saying it wasn't a little underhanded, but in the updated article Tom's says that they didn't tell anybody because they're still in the process of getting a patent for the technology.
