TSPP: A couple of questions

Hey folks!

Just got a 4th run TSPP in and I am loving it. I have a couple of
questions though, and was looking for some advice.

What spare parts would you buy for the game? I was thinking about a
couple of garage doors and hinges, but don't want to go overboard and
buy plastics sets and ramps if not really necessary.

Also, this game will be going out on location. Any areas/issues I
should be concerned about, like abnormal wear areas I should pre-mylar?
I've already installed protectors around the cabinet legs and flipper
buttons.

Thanks for any insight.
Mike

Those switches with the wishbone looking arm that Stern uses to detect balls
sitting in the VUK, Itchy and Scratch saucer, etc seem to be prime candidates
for replacement. I'd had a few spares. :)

I have seen a bunch of routed TSPP with bent/broken couch lock
brackets. I believe the new ones are better quality? I talked to Joe B.
awhile back, I don't remember the details. Give STERN a call, it's FREE.

Mike I've been happy to order parts for people owning TSPP, you're
correct that the door decal is worthwhile, although I've never gotten
hinges for anyone. Things like ramps, couch weldments, itchy and
scratchy, drop targets, playfield plastics, ramps and decal sets.
Flipper parts seem to be getting more expensive so you might consider
those. Stern has a "maintenance kit" that if ordered as a kit seems
somewhat cheaper than such items purchased separately, information on
that is in your manual.

Contact me if you're interested, I can review earlier customer receipts
for more ideas.

I have a first run machine with about 1000 games on it... nothing has
actually broken, but I've stocked up on "non generic" parts - switches for
this game will always be available, but game-specific items will not be.

So... I went with things that are showing signs of wear or could conceivably
show wear after many years. Such as plastics and ramps... obviously stickers
for the garage door (not part of the decals set), a couch weldment (nothing
wrong with mine but I've heard things), Itchy & Scratchy figurines (their
arms are apparantly fragile), cooling towers (again they don't look easy to
break, but you never know) and the metal mounting frame for Bart on his
skateboard (the front edge of mine is already starting to mushroom from
slight airballs - the only item besides the garage door to show wear). Think
that's about it of significance.

If you're trying to go on a budget, I would recommend at least two of the
ramps (Moe's Tavern and the Treehouse), a plastics set and two or three
garage door decals.
