I'd suggest Mandrake 8.x, whatever the latest version available on thier site. The install process was painless on my old Acer 233 P2 notebook, so it should be even less painful on some newer systems. The installer has both a beginner and expert install choices, allowing you to customize your linux "experience."

There are some very nice things to Linux.

Mandrake is what I'm using. I never could get Red Hat to install, so I don't really have any experience with any other distros.

In the end, the only thing I can tell you is to load whichever one you can get to install without having to do byte surgery or floppy driver loads.

C@lling it like I c it...
