Im looking to buy a new cpu and Im stuck between the XP 2500 and the 2600. The computer thats its going in is nothing but a gaming machine. In your opinion, what will offer better gaming performance? Higher clock speed or more L2 cache?

The difference between those 2 CPU will be so slight you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They will both play games equally well. It would be more dependant on the video card. So I would go with which ever is cheaper and put the extra towards a better video card.

2500+ barton is better. More cache, more potential.

My computer is the leading cause of global warming.

Unless you overclock, buy 2600+ (333 MHz FSB). It's faster than 2500+ in everywhere, including gaming. If you overclock, then 2500+ is better than 2600+
