Could be a problem with the power supply board -- there's been a rash of issues with capacitors in these boards, though I haven't heard of it affecting Samsung.

Remedy is fairly simple as the capacitors may (though not always) show bulging or leakage. If you can solder, you can fix this very cheaply.

Hi fihart.

I am having the same problem with my screen. Today all the sudden stopped displaying the images and when I turn it on and off shows the desktop for a matter of secs and then shuts itself down as if it did not have enough power.

I found out what capacitors I had to change but I can't find them in 25 volts.. only in 35V

They are two of 1000uF 25V and one of 470 uF 25V

But what I find is 1000uF 35V and one of 470 uF 35V in Radio Shack

So my question is:.. Can I replace the ones that are 25V with the ones that are 35V or they must be 25V?

All the help you can give me would be greately appreciated!

Thanks in advance and hoping to hear from you soon,

Pam

Not really a problem. Try and match the values closely but it's a good idea to go for a slightly higher voltage (35v in place of 25v is fine).

Also see if there are temperature ratings because one theory I've seen is that the capacitors fail due to heat in the confined space inside flatscreens.

In my experience Radio Shack have pretty limited range of components -- may be better to go mail-order or find a more specialist electronics component retailer.

I must report that using 35v capacitors instead of 25 v ones did NOT do the job, it fried the board instead. Saw smokes coming out of the monitors after the capacitor change outs and coupling. Monitor is sitting on the curbside now. Thanks for the false info, Mr. Anonymous.
