Hi folks, I thought I'd give you the chance to see a few pictures of the
reopened mall arcade here in Ft Collins. Bob the owner has made a very
good effort at emphasizing pinball at this game room, he used to visit
it when he was a kid, and now it's his! Opening day was Friday, July
1st, and when I went to visit that evening there had already been quite
a lot of play on the pins, and pretty good customer traffic for just
being opened. The pin wall is decorated with posters and a playfield
(guess the game!), and the whole gameroom has a retro kind of feel.

It was fun to watch the various kids and adults do a "second take" at
the pinballs, while most of the games are "old hat" to us, they were
probably all new to the possible players, a fact that we may overlook at
times. The Indy is as much of an unknown as the LOTR. Kids who you
wouldn't think would give a pinball a second glance would stop and play,
while I was on MB a kid set down his skateboard and played LOTR, I
wouldn't have expected that at all!

Bob hopes to add more pins, he was going to put in a Slugfest that
evening after close. He has an area set aside to work on games, hopes to
have a game for sale at all times, and plans on running local
tournaments once he's more established. I applaud his efforts, I'm
contributing posters and any other assistance I can to in some small way
help this prosper. Bob gets my thanks for putting a lot of hard effort
into this endeavor, this was not a casual deal. I think this is a
"golden age" of pinball here in northern Colorado, we have one of the
best pin arcades in the country in Lyons Classic Pinball
(www.lyonspinball.com), this new mall arcade, several fine collectors
with excellent collections in the area (see the other photo albums in
this set}, and at least one decent parts source...

I hope to add more pictures as the arcade expands, thanks once again to
John Wart Jr for making this online album resource possible.

Have a happy and safe 4th everyone!

Dave

that's great! who knows, maybe the idea will spread! i know the older
local malls all have a few open spots - small arcade in Fiesta Mall, that
would be awesome! stick a DDR, a bunch of pins and a few vids in a store :)

i think having a pin for sale is a great idea, as is having a work bench
on location

can't imagine that his pins started in top collector condition, and if
they keep their eyes on them, i don't see why they would drop in value
much. just gotta get enough quarters to drop to pay rent and turn a profit
if you can take the hit of having the cash locked up in the pins

Wow what a huge surprise!!! Last time I checked there was a Monopoly
unplugged sitting in the corner with no other pins around. They used
to have a MM that had major issues and was caked with dirt. Good to
see someone has stepped up. I can't wait to try that LOTR. Thanks for
the info.

Now there are 2 places to play within reasonable driving distance from me.
Wish there was a good one in Denver though!:(

Good seeing you at the party, Dave.

AWESOME news to hear about the new arcade in town! Sure beats what was
there before & will be a nice tide-over inbetween trips to Lyons. I
usually avoid the mall, but will head there this week to check it out
:) Did you per chance notice if they had any classic vids?

Here's what else I've seen out there. Anyone else know of other
location pins in Ft Collins, Loveland, or Windsor?

- Coopersmiths: RFM
- Bar in OldTown on College (forgot the name): Space Station,
EarthShaker
- Washingtons: Creature, FunHouse, DE StarWars
