System application error for Microsoft Office

Hallo
"The operating system is not currently configured to run this application" is the message I get when trying to open office. My office word was built in from the manufactures and a friend of mine tried to clean up my memory and wiped off word. He had it on his spare hard drive. I have tried to reload it on to my computer but no joy. Any tips - Please

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

If he just copied it form his hard disk it will never work - it has to be installed properly so the relevant Registry entries are created.

There is a workaraound and it's free of charge. OpenOffice will work with and create new document and spreadsheet files, is completely compatible with MS Office and can be downloaded and used straight away. Have a look here:- http://www.openoffice.org/
