Can someone point me to a specification faq or the like on replacement
batteries for Palm Vx units? Palmone does not appear to have the specs
available online. The ones I see advertised online are generally rated
3.7V 650mah for V/Vx units. I am under the impression that the V and Vx
handhelds use different batteries. I already know how to open them up
(carefully, with a heat gun).

Not directly - have looked into this route and found that you could buy
the battery from Canada (they buy it from USA - some good sites with
replacement details) but the cost came to close to GBP 90 before import
duty.

Recently I found some European sites that suggested resetting the
battery monitor software by charging the PDA then soft reset then
leaving on charger for some time (can't remember the minimum time) then
soft reset again I think. Do not remove from charger during this process
- it worked for me

If I can find the URLs I will follow-up with additional details

Would like to know the process on this if you find the sites. I
installed a 3.7v 650 mah battery and the Vx does not appear to read the
charging state correctly. I tried a cradle reset which didn't seem any
effect on it.

Have a look at

I am not connected with this site but have used this routine to give
some extra life to my Vx battery (not the week it started with though)
