I recently ordered the following laptop from sonystyle.com:

Intel® Core™ i7-820QM processor (1.73GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 3.06GHz
16.4" VAIO Premium Display (1920x1080) with NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M GPU (1GB VRAM)
8GB (4GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1333
Blu-ray Disc™ player/burner
Component: 500GB Hard Disk Drive (7200rpm)

Total Price: $1,956.99
Description: VPCF1190X Configure-to-Order

I started with a smaller budget and built up to this thing... and now I'm thinking that I could have possibly gotten a better rig for gaming with the same price tag.

Does anybody think there's a better option for me out there?

For gaming yes there is better. Get something with a 260m GTX if battery life isn't a factor and is the blu-ray needed?

Look at something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

ASUS G Series G72Gx-X1 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000(2.00GHz) 17.3" 6GB Memory DDR2 800 640GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - Retail
