Hello,
My M/C is :
Fujitsu E4010 + Toshiba DVD/CDRW Combo, SD-R2412.
Original BIOS : 1.25 dated 01/14/2004.
Updated BIOS : 1.30 dated 03/25/2005.
OS : WinXP SP2 with the latest updates.

BUG at the old BIOS ???
1. My M/C cannot read any CD at WinXP Normal Mode, under BIOS/Secondary
Master set to AUTO or CD-ROM. Windows explorer shows F Drive only like blank
CD.
Neverthless Safe Mode can read CD+DVD and write any CD.
BIOS can read bootable CD, too.

2. If Secondary Master set to NONE, BIOS CANNOT READ and WRITE ANY CD, But
safe mode XP Windows can read /write CD.

3. I was suspicious of old BIOS and updated the latest BIOS, however,
results remain unchanged. I tested this under VERITAS buringing s/ware
installed and un-installed.

Is this motherboard defect or windows conflict?
IDE Controller is Standard ATA/ATAPI Controller.
I would appreciated it very much indeed if any clue would be given to me.

Does the controller identify itself simply as "Standard" or is there
a vendor ID in front, such as Intel, VIA or some other ? If your
system is properly configured the IDE controller, not the P/S will
have a more descriptive identification. It sounds like you do not
have the proper chipset software installed.
