Desktop resolution vs HD playback resolution

Ok, I just thought of this.
Our monitor is capable of full HD (1920 X 1080) and so is my GFX card. However, I have the desktop resolution set to 1400 X 900 because things are a little bigger and I dont have to worry about changing the text size etc.
What I wanted to know was, if I decide to play a full HD (1920 x1080) movie in say,windows media player, will it play in full HD (just like a game will change resolution) or will it play at my desktop resolution of 1400 x 900?

Sorry but a media player won't resize your desktop resolution when playing HD movies.
