My Dell 2400 has a 3 1/2 floppy drive (A:). When I insert floppy
disks, the drive will make a moderately loud, buzzing sound. This sound
will remain until the diskette is removed. My experience with floppy drives
is that they only make noise when retrieving data.
I don't use the floppy drive very much, but am wondering why it's so
loud. Could it be a defective drive, or perhaps would purchasing a floppy
drive cleaning kit help?
